Motorcycle lift tables enable both enthusiasts and mechanics to perform a variety of hassle-free maintenance procedures on their motorcycles.
These tables often come in handy for a variety of tasks, including servicing motorcycles.
They are relatively inexpensive, and you can save even more money by building your own.
Generally speaking, the majority of motorcycle lift tables are made of high-quality steel.
This adds an additional level of durability to the lift table, ensuring that it won’t simply bend and break.
Homemade lift tables are made of everything from metal plates to pieces of wood.
Lift tables work in a similar way to a floor jack.
They are usually powered by either air or hydraulic features, and they have the ability to lift up to a maximum of approximately 1500 pounds.
It is worth noting that this maximum capacity depends entirely on the specific lift table.
These tables offer a number of benefits to their owners.
The main purpose for which they were designed involves keeping your hands free to perform a variety of tasks without having to support yourself on the ground.
The tables can also easily be moved and stored.
It should be noted that the majority of motorcycle lift tables also feature both a tire stop and leg locks, which are completely necessary features.
They ensure your own safety while you are using the lift table by stopping the motorcycle from moving.
Check out these great options I recommend for you:
One of the main benefits of building your own lift table is the potential savings.
Motorcycle lift tables range in price dramatically, and the pieces that you need to build one are relatively inexpensive.
Building your own motorcycle lift table also offers you a large amount of customization, with only your own imagination as the limit to what you can create.
You might need a lift table that reaches a specific height or a lift table that features a platform with a rather specific shape.
You can take all of that and more into consideration when building your own lift table, ensuring that what you build is suited to all of your needs.
Most DIY motorcycle lift tables are made almost entirely out of wood with a metal support underneath.
The use of wood keeps expenses low, so you don’t have to worry about the project costing too much in the long run.
If a DIY project would cost as much as buying a professional item, there would be no point in building one yourself.
Building your own motorcycle lift table can be a relatively easy task, as long as you use a little bit of imagination.
Our favorite motorcycle lift table is made mainly out of wood, but it doesn’t feature the same mechanical action as a professional lift table.
Instead, you have to follow your DIY heart and make a ramp to use with the table.
You will need three 2x6 pieces of plywood, two 4x4 pieces of plywood, and one sheet of ¾” plywood. You will also need four locking 175lb casters, a handful of 3” wood screws, and one Harbor Freight wheel chock.
Cut one of the 2x6 boards into pieces of 19” each, leave the other two alone. This should leave you with four smaller pieces.
Make the frame from the four short pieces and the two long pieces.
The two long pieces should be parallel, with all four of the shorter pieces slotted in between the longer pieces separating them.
These should then be placed in the corners of the box frame, as they form the legs of the table. It’s important to make sure that they sit flush so that everything is the same length.
One of these sheets is the top, and it can be then screwed onto the frame after the legs have been properly attached. Try to screw this directly into the legs.
Make sure that you are screwing it directly into the legs.
Make sure that you do not attach them too close to the edge.
Flip it over and you have yourself a homemade motorcycle table that will do the intended job perfectly.
All you need to add to make it 100-percent functional is a device to lock the tire in place for safety reasons and a ramp for getting your motorcycle onto and off the table so that you can work on it.
